More blocking and another poncho

In a knitting frenzy which means a blocking frenzy as well. The shawls are pretty much good to go but my scrap poncho has another few hours of work ahead of it.

Shawls are nice

They are nice to make and to give away and to look at. I just hate having to block them!

Ponchos!

How did I ever let myself forget how awesome these were!! Knit one for myself and one for a friend's daughter. I am thinking I should have at least three for myself...

Knitting patriotic

Just a close up of the cowl I made for Election Day. Whatever the outcome the right to vote is a privilege. The right to good superwash fiber and spinning wheels are also dear to me!

You have long haired dogs who shed you say?

Well, let me help you with that! This hat is a mix of alpaca, a little silk and... That's right! Dog brushings! Their owner was pleased, especially as the days are getting cooler.

Good matchmaking

I'm not a big believer in matchmaking but food coloring and fiber really do go together!

what to name it?

Gorgeous isn't it? Approximately 10oz and 168 yards of fabulous super wash, Corriedale and dog hair yarn. To sale this however I do have to name it and I am stumped. Arctic blast? Chill factor? Iceman? Hopefully the perfect name will come to me soon.

Dog hair to yarn

The earlier dog hair has been made into a roving and then into single ply yarn waiting to be plied. Even with only 10% being dog hair it's still kinda dense. after pulling the batt into roving i couldn't wait to start spinning.
now look at these singles! time to ply.

Let's try red!

Ran out of white Corriedale so I finished the last three batts with red brown sheep wool. The red made an awesome mix. I'm thinking these may be knitted hats or woven scarves. Now I'm on to hackling my rovings! And yes, I made the hackle.

Llama...

Didn't like the llama by itself so I threw in white Corriedale I had on hand. I have 10 batts so far and have at least 3 batts worth left but no more Corriedale so I have to find something else to mix in the batt. Bummer. At least I get to spin now!!

Batt-o-ramma

Just pulled the last batt of the alpaca/llama hybrid off my drum carder. I have 10 batts in all and they are so pretty!! I am so tempted to spin but I have the bag of the llama to card now.Soon my precious...

Fiber fest!!

A good friend washed two fleeces for me. After splitting the washed fiber, I am now looking at two one pound bags of clean gorgeous fiber from a llama and from a llama/alpaca hybrid. My drum carder will be well used this week!

Alpaca,wool,silk...and dog hair

Add some alpaca silk corridell and brown sheep wool with a bit of dog hair and what do you get? Some awesome yarn! This was so fun to blend. The dark parts came from chase and shadow, 2 shelty mixes who don't seem to mind being groomed. Now what to make...
